This October, join us for a special evening with Bleak Fabulous, the creative duo behind our exciting new photography exhibition “Ffasiwn.” 

Forget runways and glossy photoshoots. “It’s Called Ffasiwn”, a decade long project grew, from youth clubs, streets and everyday Valleys life, where young people worked with artists, Clémentine Schneidermann and Charlotte James to create something loud, colourful and proudly punk. Expect stories about creative styling, attitude, playfulness, and how the project pushed back against the idea that creativity only comes from big cities like London, Paris or Milan. 

Hosted in our Main Hall and chaired by Senior Curator Bronwen Colquhoun, the evening will dive into how the project started, why it mattered, and how it grew into the exhibition you’ll experience. 

Bleak Fabulous are a photography-based creative studio, with an emphasis on communities and collaboration. Celebrating young people who don’t wait for permission to be seen. Clémentine Schneidermann is a French photographer based between Wales and France. Charlotte James is a Creative Director, filmmaker, and educator from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

Important Information 

• Tickets to this event include entry to the exhibition Ffasiwn. The exhibition will be open between 8pm and 10pm to ticketholders. 

• The talk will begin at 7pm and last for approximately 1 hour, including a Q&A from the audience. 

• The exhibition can be accessed between 8pm and 10pm only. Please make sure you allow plenty of time to access the exhibition. 

• The talk will take place in our historic Main Hall. 

• The cafe bar will be open for alcoholic drinks, beverages, and snacks. Please be aware that no food and drink are permitted in the gallery spaces.
