Deaf Gathering Cymru — Artists’ talk with Maggie Hampton, Emily Rose Corby and Alex Miller
BSL-led with English interpreter
Our Freedom: Then and Now, is a programme of community-led artistic projects taking place in 60 arts centres and libraries across the UK to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
We’re delighted to be participating in this ambitious programme, and to share that Chapter and Deaf Gwdihŵ have commissioned three deaf artists based in Wales, Maggie Hampton, Emily Rose Corby and Alex Miller, to create new work in response to the theme.
Using Wales’ history and unique cultural identity, the artists will explore what freedom means through the lens of deaf creativity and lived experience in Wales and beyond.
Join the artists for a fascinating discussion about what they’ve been making and how they’re reflecting on the unique perspectives of deaf people through their new work. This will be followed by a poetry reading from Maggie Hampton.
