Royal Welsh College Saxophone Choir

The Royal Welsh College Saxophone Choir was formed by Gerard McChrystal in 2000 and since then over 100 saxophonists have passed through its ranks, combining members of both the Woodwind and Jazz departments at the College.

The ensemble’s recent performances have included the UK premiere of Forests of the Night by celebrated composer Nicola LeFanu and a concert at the UK Saxophone Conference for the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain which led to an appearance on the BBC News. This year they collaborated with the saxophone choir at Trinity Laban to give joint concerts in London and Cardiff.

Gerard McChrystal has performed in 35 countries and amongst others has worked with Phillip Glass, the Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC NOW, guitarist Craig Ogden and La Scala Milan. Later this year he will tour to Hong Kong and Florence and his new album is a recording of works by celebrated composer Edward Cowie.
