Taffside Sauna
Steve Johnston is the founder of Taffside Sauna. He says, “I started this project with a simple vision: to bring people together. For me, it’s about connection with nature, with others, and with ourselves.”
Steve has always believed in the power of the outdoors to restore balance. Cold dips by the river, the deep heat of a wood-fired sauna, and the quiet moments of recovery inbetween have been part of his own journey. “These simple rituals taught me how grounding and transformative they can be, and I wanted to share that experience with others,” he says. Taffside Sauna was born as a place to build community and combat loneliness. In a world where many of us feel isolated, stepping into the warmth of the sauna or braving the whisky barrel cold plunge becomes more than a wellness practice; it’s a chance to sit together, share stories, and feel part of something bigger.
Pontcanna Vintage Market at Kings Road

Baldhead Designs brings festive flair to Cardiff and the Vale
If you’re new to Pontcanna’s Baldhead Designs, you’re in for a treat. The bald head behind the creatures, characters and colourful artwork is Rich Appleby, an illustrator whose quirky, heart-warming creations have become a local favourite.
Rich works from his cosy studio in Cardiff, where he’d turned the doodles that once filled his school books and exam papers into a thriving creative business. His designs are full of personality. From playful Welsh-inspired greetings cards (who can resist a cute Welsh lady with kissable lips?) to bespoke prints and personalised illustrations, perfect for unique gifts.
