Cowbridge Music Festival Sponsorship to Help Raise Awareness of Hearing Loss
A private hearing healthcare service which recently opened in Cowbridge is the latest addition to support of one of the regions most popular festivals.
Cardiff Hearing, which is run by award winning Audiologist Sonja Jones, has partnered with Cowbridge Music Festival as a Community Sponsor, in a move which Sonja hopes will not only support the local community, but also raise awareness about the importance of good hearing health.
Cowbridge Music Festival launched in 2010 and has since gained a place among the most exciting music festivals in Wales, offering classical music, jazz and folk at an international level for the community of Cowbridge and beyond.
Sonja, who also runs clinics in Cardiff and Taffs Well, said: “Music is something very special. If we cannot hear music or enjoy the arts, then our lives are much less colourful. I urge anyone who feels that they may be struggling with their hearing, to get in contact with your local audiologist. There is so much help available out there and millions of people across the UK not accessing it.”
In the UK there are 12 million adults with hearing loss greater that 25dB. This is equivalent to one in five adults. By 2035, the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID)s estimates that there will be around 14.2 million adults with hearing loss greater than 25dB across the UK.
This year’s festival includes performances from leading Welsh pianist Llŷr Williams, in recital with viola player Rosalind Ventris, and Daniel Martinez, presenting vibrant and authentic flamenco.
Cardiff Hearing are also sponsors of one of the festival’s performances taking place in a local care home, ensuring that live music reaches everyone in the local community.
