Griffin Books, Penarth’s award-winning independent bookshop, is pleased to welcome Professor Victoria Donovan on Sunday 27 July to All Saints Lesser Hall, Penarth, for a special event to mark the release of her new books, Life in Spite of Everything: Tales from the Ukrainian East.

Mel Griffin, owner of Griffin Books, commented: “In her powerful book, Professor Donovan shares a different side of eastern Ukraine: one that goes beyond the images of war we often see. Through stories of real people, from artists and museum workers to young people and railway staff, she shows how everyday life, culture, and hope continue to the face of conflict. Her writing gives a voice to local citizens and shows the deeply personal impact of Putin’s war”.
