Back in February, Griffin Books announced it had been named a Country Finalist in the British Book Awards 2026, marking a proud moment for the beloved Penarth indie. The team shared their excitement at being recognised alongside a strong group of fellow independent bookshops, including Cover to Cover, Berwyn Bookshop, The Bookshop By The Sea, The Mold Bookshop, Book Space Cardiff, Chepstow Books, Llyfrau Ystwyth Books and Books at the Dragons Garden.

Griffin Books have since announced they have been named Wales Independent Bookshop of the Year 2026, adding yet another award under their belt!

Their win reflects Griffin Books’ place within a vibrant community of independent booksellers across Wales – a network they described as inspiring, supportive and genuinely special.
