Cardiff, Wales — HAIR by Harry Hamilton Shaw is celebrating its first anniversary, marking a standout year of growth in the Cardiff hair and beauty scene.
Founded by Harry Hamilton Shaw, the salon has quickly established itself as a go-to destination for modern, high-quality hair services, with over 1,000 transformations its first year alone.
Harry’s journey into hairdressing began at just 16, inspired by her grandmother, Beti, who ran her own salon. That early exposure to the industry shaped not only her career path, but also the values behind the business today, independence, technical expertise and a deep understanding of women and their lifestyles.
Before launching her own salon, Harry honed her craft working with respected names in the industry, including Timba based in Rhiwbina and Belle Toujours in Pontcanna. These formative experiences helped refine her skill, pace and approach to client care, all of which are now central to the HAIR by Harry Hamilton Shaw experience.
Over the past 12 months, the salon has evolved into more than just a hair destination offering a full-service experience through its growing team. Beauty specialist Gemma Dennis has expanded the salon’s offering with nails, pedicures, waxing, and lash and brow treatments, whilst rising Junior Graduate Shona has recently completed her Level One training and is progressing into Level Two, reflecting the salon’s commitment to nurturing new talent.
Alongside her work behind the chair, Harry is also beginning to establish herself as a mentor within the industry. Having already supported new salon owners in launching and building their businesses, this is an area set for further growth as she looks to share her knowledge and experience with the next generation.
Looking ahead, HAIR by Harry Hamilton Shaw shows no signs of slowing down. With continued investment in education, an upcoming trip to Stockholm with award-winning professional haircare manufacturer, REF Stockholm, and its status as a Great Lengths Platinum Salon, the business is entering its second year with a clear focus.
The salon is also preparing to expand its team, with a new junior stylist role opening as part of its next phase of growth.
Speaking on the milestone, Harry said: “This first year has been everything I hoped for and more. I’m so proud of what we’ve built, not just the salon, but the team and the community we’ve created. There’s so much more to come, and I’m really excited for what’s next.”
As the business moves into year two, the message is clear: this is just the beginning.
