Land Empathy / Richard Chappell Dance
Curated by Richard Chappell Dance, the evening brings three works into CULTVR.
As part of CULTVR’s Catalyst 360, Chappell combines his production Land Empathy with Heart Land, his 2022 BBC Arts dance film. Live dance, intergenerational performers and 360° film projection surround audiences with immersive images of bodies and landscapes, moving from ecological grief towards compassion and renewal.
TIMEWASTERS, by dancer Faye Tan and artist, costume designer and maker George H. Wale, takes a playful turn. Tan wrestles with, clambers over and is engulfed by Wale’s inflatable sculptures and costumes, exploring outdoor leisure and personal narrative.
Who Do You Think I Am? by Neus Gil Cortes combines acro-dance and augmented reality, inviting audiences to share their responses to migration, identity and belonging. In a climate of polarised debate, it creates space for conversation, empathy and different perspectives.
