Cowbridge Pride- A Celebration of Community and Diversity

Cowbridge Pride, which ran from 1-16 June, concluded its vibrant week of events, drawing thousands to our picturesque town. Launched in 2022 by Ian H Watkins of Steps and Tom Hope, Cowbridge Pride has rapidly become a focal point of community spirit and LGBTQ+ visibility in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The week began with the Mayor’s Coffee Morning on 1 June, setting a welcoming tone. On 10 June, the LGBTQ+ flag was proudly raised over the Town Hall, symbolising the town’s commitment to inclusivity. The Iris Prize Film Festival on 13 June brought celebrations of LGBTQ+ storied to the big screen.

15 June was a highlight with a lively Pride Disco. The festivities culminated in the fabulous Pride Parade on Sunday, 16 June, which saw thousands of attendees and watchers-by marching through the town centre. The Family Disco that evening provided a joyful conclusion to the week-long celebration.

Cowbridge Pride’s impact extends beyond these festivities, previously supporting local schools with resources and promoting LGBTQ+ education. This year’s celebration once again highlighted the importance of rural LGBTQ+ visibility, providing that pride and community flourish in every corner of the world.
