Monteverdi Vespers was published in 1610, making it one of the oldest ‘large scale’ religious works ever written. This dramatic and expressive music has survived the centuries with remarkable success. Monteverdi created a magnificent set of pieces, using Renaissance counterpart to represent ‘old’ and baroque operatic style representing ‘new’, Cantemus will be accompanied on historic instruments by Rejouissance- this will be a memorable evening!
