Catrin Llwyd Evans Gyda’r Hwyr • After Dark
Set in the twilight hours between dusk and moonrise, these oil on canvas paintings are dark and moody. The colour palette is muted, save for a few example of bright neon ground peeking through the painted images. The mark-making is confident, flowing and immediate, resulting in artworks full of painterly quality. Over the years, the scale of Llwyd Evan’s paintings have grown- from small watercolours to the biggest yet, a 170x150cm oil. In the Light of the Moon takes centre stage, a bright full moon in cloudless dark sky above silhouetted tree-tops.
