Hand build a plant pot and tray using different techniques, for example pinching and coiling. Add textures and also colours using coloured slips. Work will be fired to be useable.

Samantha Hayes started her pottery journey in the late 1980s while at school, and has been passionate about ceramics ever since. Graduating in 1994 from Bath, she now runs Dove Love Ceramics in St Hilary and sells her hand-made and hand-decorated tableware all over the globe. Sam is enthusiastic about teaching pottery as she believes it is an important way to keep this beautiful and important craft alive.

What does the learner need to bring to the course?

All pottery materials and equipment, including clay and slips, will be provided free of charge on the day. You may wish to research beforehand the pot shapes you like, and designs to go on them. Please also bring an apron and, if you can, store cards for smoothing and plastic bags for wrapping.
