St David’s Day Cafe Concert

Penarth Pier Pavilion celebrates St David’s Day with a cafe concert of popular Welsh songs performed by award winning performer and baritone singer Richard Parry, with piano accompaniment by Anita Datta.

Come along for a Welshcake and a cup of tea/coffee (included in the ticket price) and experience favourite Welsh classics and music to celebrate St David, our culture, and stories of Wales.

Welsh baritone Richard Parry is a remarkably versatile theatre performer and cultural campaigner. He studied singing privately with Mark Wildman, head of voice at the Royal Academy of Music and has gone on to perform in opera and song recital in UK and Europe with The English Bach Festival, Clonter Opera and Opera North and appeared as a baritone recitalist at international music festivals.

Anita Datta is a conductor and organist, particularly known for her work with choirs and voices. She is the founder and director of The Swan Consort, a chamber choir of elite singers specialising in early music but performing in a range of styles, and was awarded the Limpus, Shinn, and Durant prize by the Royal College of Organists. A former Organ Scholar of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, Anita has undertaken international tours performing in Austria, the USA and Italy.
