For more than 40 years combined, the Specsavers stores in Leckwith and Queen Street have been helping thousands of people across Cardiff look after their sight and hearing.
Both stores are locally owned and run, with teams that take pride in providing expert, personalised care to the communities they serve.
At Leckwith, optometrist director Emily Blunt leads the clinical team, ensuring customers access the care they need – from routine eye tests to same-day appointments for urgent concerns or rapidly changing symptoms.

Emily also encourages people to prioritise regular eye checks, explaining that the eyes can reveal early signs of wider health issues.
Emily says: “During a sight test, we not only look at the overall health of your eyes, we can also detect signs of other health concerns – from diabetes to high blood pressure. That’s why we encourage everyone to keep up with their routine checks every two years, and to come to us straightaway if you notice any chances to your vision.”
At Queen Street, optometrist director Clare Corcoran leads a team that’s passionate about making eye care accessible, professional and stress-free. The store offers Independent Prescribing (IP) services, meaning many serious eye conditions can be diagnosed and treated directly in store without the need for onward referral to a hospital.

Clare says: “Our Independent Prescribing service allows us to treat a wide range of serious eye conditions quickly and effectively. It not only eases pressure on NHS services but also ensures our customers receive the care they need, when they need it.”
Specsavers Leckwith and Cardiff Queen Street are open seven days a week for routine and urgent appointments. Specsavers also offers home visiting services for anyone unable to attend a store in person.
