Griffin Books, Penarth’s award-winning independent bookshop, is undergoing an exciting transformation this September. Following the expansion into a neighbouring unit earlier this year to create a dedicated Children’s and Teen department, the shop is now preparing for the next major step: a long-awaited internal knock-through to connect the two spaces.

The work will take place Monday 15 – Tuesday 23 September (inclusive), during which time access to the shop for browsing will be limited. However, Griffin Books will remain open throughout this period, ensuring customers can continue to purchase books, place orders, and buy event tickets.

During this period, the Griffin Books team will be available at the entrance to the original shop (next to Windsor Arcade) to assist with orders, recommendations, and collections. Customers are encouraged to place orders in advance to avoid disruption, using one of the following methods:

Owner Mel Griffin said:

“This knock-through has been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to welcome customers into our new, fully connected space. We’re so grateful to our loyal community for their patience and support during the transition – we promise it will be worth it!”

Griffin Books expects to unveil the new layout on Wednesday 24 September, creating an even bigger and better browsing experience for readers of all ages.
