Offering a range of stays, including 5-star cottage rentals, rural retreats, menopause retreats, pink-friendly breaks and bike safaris (alongside collaborator Hidden Routes www.hiddenroutes.co.uk); Phil and Jen are the hospitality power-couple in Pembrokeshire. Purveyors of their own specialist gin, copperpot-distilled locally, along with honey straight from hives on the farm, it’s no surprise that The Independent newspaper named them one of the top ten rural cottage getaways across the whole of the UK in 2021.

“One of the things we most enjoy about welcoming guests to Preseli Hills Cottages is meeting people from so many different backgrounds and social situations,” says Jen. “We are passionate about including everybody and extending a friendly warm welcome to all.”

Soul and pop musician Rob Green @robgreenmusic recently called Jen and Phil to organise a special birthday break for his husband at one of the cottages, and the couple worked hard to ensure that the holiday was a huge success.

The cottages also operate a pet-friendly policy, including pet-sitting should it be required. Recent furry-friend guests include a hamster who came on honeymoon with his owners, and a dachshund called Kickstart, who certainly enjoyed his stay at the cottages and explored the beautiful surroundings from a box on the back of a classic motorbike!

There are some beautiful spots around the farm to enjoy. Take a stroll around the small lake, push the rowboat out for a paddle or just sit and watch the dragonflies swoop around reeds in the meadow.

Jen and Phil have worked hard to incorporate as much green energy into the farm as possible. Selecting fixtures and fittings in the cottages that were locally-sourced from quality suppliers was also important. They also bought Belted Galloway cattle to the farm, as well as pigs and chickens, since having their own clean produce was key.
