Our Organic Life

The Green Giraffe Montessori Day Nursery, rated excellent in all nursery settings.

We strongly believe that the old saying, ‘you are what you eat’ is a very good diet guideline. If we eat a range of healthy, vibrant foods, we will feel healthy, vibrant and alive! We love food! But only fresh homemade food, which we’ve been committed to serving from the day we first opened our doors.

We have fantastic organic facilities to provide a safe, stimulating, inspiring environment for children.

We care about the environment and the impact we have on it for our children. We teach them to love and protect the environment and we do everything we can to give them a healthy start in life. The meals and snacks we provide are always fresh and organic. Cleaning products are natural and eco-friendly, nappies are biodegradable, and toiletries are organic or made from natural, safe ingredients. Most of our toys and furniture in the nursery are made from wood instead of plastic, creating a relaxing and nurturing environment in which children can learn and develop. In our quest to provide an exceptional childcare experience, we have also implemented a range of child-friendly policies. These include our ‘Low-Plastics’ policy, which governs the use of children’s equipment and toys, as well as out ‘No Microwaves’ rule for children’s food, promoting healthier alternatives. These policies are not static but continuously evolve through meticulous research and improvement, reflecting our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in childcare.

Why Organic?

Good food creates good health and a good mind. It really does enable children to learn, play, and enjoy life. The food we provide in our nursery is organic, which means:

It’s healthier– Organic foods have higher levels of vitamin C, minerals, cancer-fighting antioxidants, and other beneficial nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and chromium, because the soil they are grown in is chemical free.

No GM– Genetically modified (GM) crops and ingredients are not allowed under organic standards.

Care for animals– Organic farming requires animals to be kept in more natural, free ranging conditions with a more natural diet.

High standards– Organic food comes from trusted sources and the standards are laid down in European Law. We guarantee that all of our ingredients are organic and have committed to comply with the Soil Association Code of Practice for organic catering.
