Summer is here, the sun is out (some of the time) so what better time to discover new things. There are so many incredible places to explore and some great independent businesses just waiting to be discovered.

Restaurant

Silures is one of the newest places on Wellfield Road and has already caused quite the stir. Opening back in May, this modern restaurant gives a nod to south eastern Welsh culture and food. They offer a varied menu throughout the week, along with brunch and a classic Sunday roast alongside an elaborate cocktail menu. Silures has found it’s place in the Roath Park business community and is definitely worth the visit.

Café

Looking for a new coffee shop? St Andrew’s Coffee Court run by Wyburn and Wayne is the perfect place to take a break from the high street and relax with a tasty coffee. Noted as a charming, independent coffee spot situated in the heart of Roath Park, build alongside the beautiful St Andrew’s Church. It’s the perfect place to take a moment to yourself or to enjoy with friends.

Nature Trail

Roath Park is known for it’s picturesque views, with the lake being the main focal point for leisurely strolls. But Roath Park Pleasure Gardens is one of my personal favourites. As you take in the views from the lake, you can also explore the beautiful flora-haven of the gardens. With flower beds, shrubs and trees, it’s the perfect trail for a gentle walk on a summers day.

Event

Pride is coming to Roath! Returning for it’s second year, ‘Pride in Roath’ will be taking place on the 12th to 13th August, with makers markets, food stalls, bars and evening entertainment from Venus Flytrap, Fenix and Joanna Bumme. They’ll also be a Cardiff Theatre Cafe’s Open Mic Night with special guest Levi Tyrell Johnson. This event promises to be a vibrant celebration of love and community. We can’t wait!

Gift Shop

There are so many wonderful independent gift shops in Roath Park, just like John Henry Flowers. A delightful florist on Wellfield Road, with most of the bouquets and arrangements made on site by a florist with over 30 years of experience in the trade. You are always guaranteed excellent customer service and have a wide variety of stunning flowers for all occasions.
