South Wales-based Distillery Lights Up Christmas with New Candle Range
South Wales-based Hensol Castle Distillery has launched a new range of environmentally friendly candles, which have been created by recycling its iconic gin bottles to give them a new lease of life.
Created just in time for Christmas, the Hensol Castle Candle is hand poured into repurposed Hensol Castle Welsh Dry Gin bottles, which have been cut for a smooth finish, and which feature its classic fluted glass exterior.
Made using only 100% essential oils and plant-based wax, the candles have top notes of cassis, raspberry and sweet cherry; heart notes of raspberry leaf, fig and orris and base notes of coconut, sandal and cedarwood.
The wax is made from coconut and rapeseed oils only which burns slowly and cleanly and is combined with a wooden wick, which is sustainably sourced, FSC approved and free of toxins and phthalates. Not only does the wick diffuse heat more rapidly into the wax, resulting in up to 35% more scent being dispersed into a room, it also makes a crackling sound when burning.
Steph Metson, marketing manager at Hensol Castle Distillery, said: “We’ve been collecting used empty bottles from our hotel bars at the Vale Resort and the distillery for a while as we were keen to come up with an inventive way to recycle them. The Hensol Castle Candle, is hand poured by our friends at the Happy House Candle Company and seemed a natural choice to complement our award-winning gins and the fragrance is gorgeous.”
“As the nights draw in and Christmas approaches, our candles are the perfect addition to gently light your festive interiors, while also making an excellent gift for candle lovers.”
The candle will have a net weight of approximately 500g and an average of 90 hours burn time. They are priced at £25 each and will be available to buy from 5 November 2022 at www.hensolcastledistillery.com/shop
