Summer Show
8th August – 13th September
The Albany Gallery’s vibrant Summer Show opens on Friday, 8 August 2025 and continues through to Saturday, 13 September. This annual exhibition is a celebration of creativity, showcasing a varied mix of original paintings, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery by more than 30 artists. The show is constantly evolving: artwork is sold straight off the wall and refreshed regularly with new pieces, offering visitors a fresh experience throughout.

This year marks a special milestone for regular exhibitor Andrew Douglas-Forbes, who is celebrating 25 years since first exhibiting at the gallery. Andrew’s paintings focus on nature and still life – particularly flowers – reflecting the quiet transition from season to season. He draws inspiration from early morning walks, observing muted colours, heavy skies, and the slow decay or resilience of rural buildings.
“Light is my first priority,” he says. “Subject comes second. I try to capture feeling – an atmosphere beyond words or song.”
Though his subjects may be in front of him, he often works from drawings, valuing the immediacy of first impressions and emotional response.
Martin Llewellyn Solo Show
19th September – 18th October

Welsh artist Martin Llewellyn, born in Neath, South Wales in 1963, is a self-taught painter whose work is deeply inspired by the dramatic coastline and rugged landscapes of his homeland. While he began his artistic journey with watercolours, he has since embraced the bold, expressive qualities of oil painting, working primarily with a palette knife to create powerful, texture scenes.
