The Penarth Operatic & Dramatic Society (PODS) are back on stage this week with their latest production — the smash‑hit musical We Will Rock You at the Paget Rooms. After opening last night to an enthusiastic audience, the show continues through to Saturday 16th May, giving local theatre‑lovers just a few days to catch this high‑energy, feel‑good favourite.

For anyone new to the story, We Will Rock You is a jukebox musical packed with the iconic music of Queen. Set in a dystopian future where live music is banned, the show follows a group of young rebels determined to bring back real rock. It’s bold, funny, and gloriously over the top — the perfect match for PODS’ trademark mix of heart, talent, and ambition.

PODS have long been one of Penarth’s most loved community theatre groups, known for productions that consistently exceed expectations of amateur dramatics. Their shows are polished, imaginative, and full of local talent, often selling out thanks to their loyal audience and strong reputation. This year’s cast brings together familiar faces and exciting new performers, all taking on Queen’s biggest hits with the energy they deserve.

Jodana Weekley as Killer Queen, Nigel Crick as Khashoggi, Marc Skone as Brit, Jenny Evans as Oz, Emily March as Scaramouche, Paul Mellin as Buddy, Jake Griffiths as Galileo, are just some of the incredible performers taking to the stage in this exciting production.
