So, gather your friends and family, mark your calendars, and prepare to enjoy a summer of excitement. Here’s a glimpse of the many events coming up.

Cardiff Food & Drink Festival is returning to Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff Bay from the 5-7 July 2024. A true celebration of good food, bringing people closer together while enjoying delicacies from around the world, as well as sustainable food from local producers.

Welcome to the tantalising world of House of Deviant! Wales’ first and only learning disabled drag troupe. Be prepared as they get ready to challenge your perceptions, ignite the power and shatter boundaries. Taking place at Wales Millennium Centre on the 5 July 2024, 9:30pm start.

Tafwyl returns to Bute Park for another free festival bringing together the best of Welsh language music, art and culture on 12-13 July 2024.

Penarth Summer Festival and Downhill Derby returns on the 13 July 2024 on the town’s famous seaside esplanade.

14 July! A historic date for all of us French nationals. I am, of course, talking about Bastille Day! Ah mais oui bien sur! To mark this special occasion, I will be organising an event in collaboration with Francois and Serge, who run the Pilot in Penarth and who recently won CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024! Make sure to book your table and let yourself be transported to Paris for the evening!

Penarth’s Belle Vue Park will host Music in the Park on 14 July as well, after a pandemic-induced hiatus.

If you enjoy a walk in the beautiful countryside with like-minded people while discovering the local history then you will enjoy Glamorgan History Walks. The walks started on 4 May, but will go on until 20 July.

Whenever I get the chance, I do enjoy having a walk around Roath Park. A ride on a pedalo is also a fun way to absorb the scenery from a completely different angle while catching up with friends. It’s nice, gentle exercise too! A 30 minute hire is only £10. And while you are there, Bring Your Own Summer Picnic organised by Guild of British Camera Technicians is on 20 July, in collaboration with Terra Nova Café.

After much anticipation, GlastonBARRY Juniors returns for a day of live music at the Vale’s family tribute festival on 26 July 2024!

It is showtime again at the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show taking place on 7 August 2024 on the Penllyn Estate. Alongside the livestock and horse showing, there are over 200 trade stands selling a variety of goods. A Food Court in the centre of the field sells produce, which have mostly been grown or made in the Vale. The show hosts a large craft fair and horticultural show along with a home produce marquee, dog show, rabbit show and countryside marquee.

Up for some action-packed and unmissable cricket competition this summer? Then do not miss your chance to watch the famous Hundred Cricket Match at Sophia Gardens Cricket Ground in Pontcanna on 8 August 2024.

Exercising as a group not only boosts your feel-good and energy levels, it also promotes togetherness, so get your running shoes on and take on a sightseeing tour of the city by taking part in the famous Cardiff 10K on 1 September 2024! Consider it as a warm-up in preparation for the half marathon, which will follow in October.

Fans of music aren’t left out this season either. Don’t miss the Cowbridge Music Festival from 13-22 September 2024. Additionally, get ready for an exciting three weeks of music featuring an incredible array of talent taking place at Cardiff Music City Festival running 27 September-20 October 2024.

One of the world’s most successful musicals is coming to town this October! Wicked will be playing at the Wales Millennium Centre 24 October-23 November! This is one show you won’t want to miss. The perfect avant gout for Halloween!

Happy summer to you all!
