Bold, boutique and proudly Penarth, ARTH Strength is putting community at the heart of functional fitness. Big into fitness-fuelled friendships, they believe nothing strengthens bonds quite like conquering tough workouts together. They are assembling a community that ignites change in people’s lives, to build stronger bodies and resilient minds.

The brainchild of former Wales international rugby player Laura Payne and world-renowned harpist Hannah Jones, this female-led gym on Glebe Street is redefining what strength training looks and feels like.

“Gyms can be intimidating, but we wanted ARTH to feel different,” says Laura. “Our classes are about helping people discover what their bodies are truly capable of, in a welcoming space.”

The duo, who first met at the school gates, bonded over their shared love of fitness and have competed together in CrossFit and Hyrox events.

Inside, ARTH’s dark, minimalist interiors could feel severe – but they don’t. Instead, this boutique gym has quickly built a thriving community where members come to lift, sweat and grow stronger together.

From strength training with dumbbells and barbells to high-energy sweat sessions, the focus is on building life-enhancing fitness, with expert coaching from a passionate team. And it’s about more than fitness: with a strong ethos of giving back, ARTH has already raised thousands for local charities in its first year.

“People here aren’t just working out – they’re part of something, and we also have a high population of Welsh speakers, of which we are proud.” Hannah adds. “And why shouldn’t they feel proud to invest in their own health?”

ARTH offers a range of memberships and flexible class passes to suit every lifestyle. The timetable offers up to seven classes a day, Monday to Friday, plus early weekend sessions. Whether you’re lifting for the first time or chasing your next personal best, there’s a space for you here. Visit www.arthstrength.fit or pop into the studio to book your trail classes today.
