Every child has the potential to achieve. Our role as educators is to unlock that potential by understanding each child’s academic and learning profile. For parents, that means having the confidence of knowing their child is progressing academically, with the support and challenge they need to thrive.

Parents often ask themselves: How is my child progressing academically?

Are they achieving what is expected for their age? Are they receiving the support and challenge they need? And is their learning personalised to their needs?

Every parents deserves to know the answers. Throughout a child’s education, parents receive school reports and attend parent’s evenings. Yet, they don’t always provide a complete picture of what really matters: the academic progress a child has made, their current level of attainment and whether they are capable of achieving more.

Parents deserve to know whether their child is making the academic progress expected for their age and where additional support may be needed. Equally, parents needs to understand when their child is ready for greater challenge and what will help them achieve more.

Unlock their potential

Every child learns in their own way. A child may demonstrate strong mathematical fluency but find problem-solving more demanding. Another may read confidently yet struggle to interpret and explain what they have read. Others may be capable of working beyond age-related expectations but need opportunities to extend their thinking.

Understanding these differences is the foundation of personalised learning.

As educators at Clare House School Porthcawl, we explore how children think, apply their knowledge and respond to challenges. This evidence allows us to respond to the child in front of us. We adapt our teaching to each child’s individual learning profile, ensuring the education they receive reflects their needs and capabilities.

A Learning Progress Review

Clare House School Porthcawl is offering families a Learning Progress Review. It is an opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of their child’s academic attainment and individual learning needs.

Over one day, our experienced educators get to know each child as a learner. Through adaptive academic assessments and individual learning activities, we explore what they know and understand. Carefully pitched challenges help us observe how children apply their knowledge and respond when learning becomes more demanding.

Our adaptive assessments generate standardised academic data. This provides an indication of attainment against national age-related expectations. Teacher-led observations and professional dialogue offer further insights into each child’s learning behaviours. We also identify where a child may be ready for greater academic challenge.

Together, these findings form a comprehensive academic learning profile. They inform personalised strategies to provide additional support or extend learning.

From understanding to action

The real value of understanding a child’s learning comes from knowing what they need next. Following a Learning Progress Review, parents receive a Personalised Learning Profile bringing together evidence of attainment in reading, mathematics and writing. This includes benchmarking against national age-related expectations.

The report includes professional teacher analysis of the assessment data — it identifies a child’s academic strengths, areas requiring development and opportunities where greater challenges may be appropriate.

The Learning Progress Review goes further than explaining what a child knows today. Each family receives a Personalised Progress Plan, which outlines specific learning priorities and recommendations to support their child’s continued academic growth.

Parents are also invited to a personal consultation with me to explore the findings. Together, we discuss the data and its significance in the context of their child’s learning.

One day. A complete understanding. And a way forward.

Learning Progress Reviews are available for children in Years 1 to 6 attending maintained and independent schools.

Every child has academic strengths, areas where additional support may be needed and potential that is yet to be fully realised. Understanding these differences gives parents the confidence to make informed decisions about their child’s education.

One day can change what you know about your child’s learning and what you choose to do next. Give us one day, and we’ll give you a comprehensive, evidence-informed understanding of your child’s academic learning profile.
