Gŵyl Cymru Festival- Cardiff Events
“The Football Association of Wales (FAW) and the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) have announced the programme for Gŵyl Cymru Festival, a 10-day celebration of creativity as part of the nation’s support for Cymru during the FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign in Qatar. This festival programme contains lots of fun events for everyone, aiming to unify and amplify the wealth of arts, music and events being created for Cymru’s historic World Cup journey and introduce new audiences to Welsh arts, culture and language- ensuring a cultural legacy to the FIFA World Cup 2022, brought by the smallest qualifying country to take part.” – Gŵyl Cymru Festival Press Release

Twin Made Crafty Evening
Twin Made Crafty Evening to create Welsh-themed items for your window, home, car, desk or anywhere else you would like to display how proud you are! All materials will be provided, just bring yourself and a bag to take your makes home in.

Footballroom
FootBallroom – One of Wales’ most exciting theatre companies, August 012, teams up with the pride of Cymru, the extraordinary Welsh Ballroom Community, reclaiming queer identities within the aesthetics of football. This is a cross-community project bringing together LGBTQ+ football fans and their allies, and Ballroom lovers, to celebrate queerness in football. Through sharing stories, celebrating queerness and embracing football culture we will create a space in which football is gay. Date/Time TBC. Voices of the Red Wall Exhibition
Supporters of our national football teams are called The Red Wall. Dressed in their bucket hats and replica shirts, belting out chants from the stands, they’re often described as the twelfth player on the pitch. Fashion, music, identities and politics are all here, cemented together by a sense of belonging. This is their story – your story – the bricks of The Red Wall. It’s a fan-led experience like no other.”

Glass Art Workshop
Art workshop creating football themed decorations out of glass at Glass by Design. Create your own special memento celebrating Wales’ football team at The World Cup. Suitable for adults and children from 8 years old. Each session is £5. You can book your spot here.

Football Cook Stars, Cardiff North and West
Cook Stars Cardiff North and West will host a children’s cooking event suitable for 3-12 year olds. Children will make and decorate cookies with a Welsh football theme. There will be football-themed games, bingo and Welsh football songs whilst the food cooks.

Acapela Presents N’Famady Koyaté
N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic master musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff in 2019. A talented multi-instrumentalist who wowed audiences across the UK and Ireland during autumn/winter 2019/20 with his modern interpretations of traditional West African Mandingue songs and rhythms supporting Gruff Rhys on the Pang! album tour.

As a regular venue for Red Wall members pre-match for Cymru home games Canton Rugby Club have a well known buzz pre and post match. They’ll be hosting fans with music and food before and after the big three games.

Acapela Studio Presents Jazz Sabbath
Jazz Sabbath is a fictional English jazz trio said to be from the late sixties. The band was created by Adam Wakeman, touring keyboard and guitar player for Black Sabbath (2004–2017) and Ozzy Osbourne band member (2004–present). Jazz Sabbath plays jazz renditions of Black Sabbath songs.

Los Blancos will launch their official single for this year’s World Cup at Clwb Ifor Bach. The slacker-rock five-piece band from Carmarthen are one of Clwb’s favorite bands and their shows are full of energy, fun, and sweat!

WE BELONG: Celebration of LGBTQ+ Football in Wales
