The teams at Specsavers Leckwith and Queen Street provide comprehensive, clinically-led eye care services in Cardiff, supported by significant investments in facilities, technology and professional expertise.

Both stores, which are locally owned and run, offer routine eye examinations, urgent appointments for customers experiencing changes in vision or concerning symptoms, and access to enhanced clinical services.

Each store has dedicated private test rooms and advanced technology including OCT scanning, supporting the early detection of conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.

“People often think an eye test is just about updating their prescription, but it can pick up early signs of other health concerns too,” says optometrist director, Clare Corcoran. “That’s why we recommend a test every two years, or sooner if anything changes.”

Specsavers Queen Street has recently completed a major six-figure refurbishment, to coincide with its 40th anniversary, expanding to 11 optical test rooms and further enhancing its facilities by adding a dedicated contact lens area and audiology space.

The store also offers Independent Prescribing services, enabling optometrists to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions within the community, without referral to a hosptial.

“Our Independent Prescribing service means we can treat many eye conditions quickly and effectively in the community,” adds Clare. “It’s a service we’re really proud of. It means we do much more for our customers – almost like being GPs for the eyes, and it helps ease the pressure on hospitals by reducing unnecessary referrals and wait times.”

Specsavers Leckwith and Queen Street are open seven days a week and offer a Home Visits service for customers unable to attend in person.
