PODS Presents Shrek The Musical: A Review
He’s grumpy, he’s green and he’s taking to the stage!
Based on the Dreamworks classic we all know and love, Shrek is back and this time with a tune!
PODS presents their latest production, Shrek the Musical and I was lucky enough to be invited to watch their final dress rehearsal before they open tonight on 14th May, and it’s safe to say that Penarth’s Operatic and Dramatic Society might have another hit on their hands.

David Millard as Shrek, Abbie Prothero as Fiona and Chloe Welsh as Donkey, dazzled as the iconic comedy trio. As well as Richard Thomas, who brought the infamous villain Lord Farquaad to life on stage. His mastery of physical comedy and witticism was brilliant to watch.

And special recognition has to go to Harriet Taylor as the Dragon (& Ugly Duckling), Rebecca Miles as the Sugar Plum Fairy (& Gingy) and Eddy Hughes as Pinocchio. They really got the chance to showcase their incredible vocal talents and almost made me forget I wasn’t watching a professional show.

As always, the cast of this PODS production did not falter in bringing us their palpable energy, with each one of them giving 110% and helping to create a fun show for all.

Big, upbeat chorus numbers, hilarious quips and incredible costumes, PODS have done it again! Bringing us one of their biggest productions yet and redefining amateur dramatics. This production will have you laughing and tapping your feet from start to finish, what more could you want?

PODS’ Shrek the Musical is a show for the whole family to enjoy! All your favourite characters on stage and funnier than ever. The show will be at the Paget Rooms until the 18th May and tickets are selling out fast, so get yours now!
