We are delighted to announce Rachel Rees as Westbourne School Principal, joining us from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School.
“Bold, experienced, highly-engaging”
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Rachel Rees from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School as the new Westbourne School Principal from September.
Rachel is a bold, experience, highly-engaging and values-driven leader with a strong track record in academic achievement and strategic school leadership. Rachel brings an abundance of energy, expertise and vision to help deliver our mission: to develop future ready leaders with the curiosity, creativity and capability to shape a rapidly developing world.
Rachel previously served as Acting Head at Monmouth School for Girls during the merger of the girls and boy schools and is now Head of Senior School at the newly fully merged co-educational Monmouth School. Her earlier roles include Senior Deputy Head and Director of Sixth Form. With over 25 years of teaching and leadership experience across both the independent and state sectors, she brings a powerful combination of academic rigour, pastoral depth and classroom expertise. Rachel also holds a Master’s in Education Leadership and Management.
Rachel combines drive and warmth with a laser-sharp focus on academic excellence and student wellbeing. She brings a deep understanding of what matters most- strong relationships, local knowledge, high expectations and a clear sense of purpose, making her uniquely placed to lead Westbourne through its next chapter.
She will formally relocate to Penarth this summer and take up her post from 1st September, working closely with our Senior Leadership Team during the summer term, to ensure a strong and seamless transition.
There will be plenty of opportunities for families to meet with Rachel in the months ahead and hear more about her vision, values and commitment to Westbourne’s continued success. In the meantime, on behalf of the whole Westbourne community, we extend to Rachel the very warmest of Westbourne welcomes.
