Opened in 2006, Specsavers Penarth has been providing trusted eye and hear care services to the local community for nearly two decades.
The store is locally owned and run by retail director, James Deavall, and ophthalmic director, Andrew Moss, who lead a team committed to delivering high standard of clinical care in a welcoming, community-focused environment.
The store offers routine and urgent eye examinations, supported by its Independent Prescribing services. This allows optometrists to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions in-store, including issuing prescription-only eye drops where appropriate, meaning many customers can receive prompt care without the need for onward hospital referral, while also helping to ease pressure on NHS services.
Urgent appointments are available for customers experiencing sudden changes in vision or eye discomfort, ensuring care within the community.
“Delivering high-quality clinical care while staying rooted in the local community is at the heart of what we do,” says Andrew Moss. “We want people to feel confident they can access expert eye care quickly and conveniently.
“In Wales, optometrists can diagnose and treat many eye conditions without a GP referral, so if you notice any changes in your vision, don’t wait. Contact your optician.”
Specsavers Penarth is open seven days a week and offers a home visits service for customers unable to attend in person.
