Age Cymru Bring the First Over 50’s Grief Disco to Wales for Gwanwyn Festival 2025

On Thursday 29 May, 2pm-4pm at Penarth Paget Rooms, Age Cymru are offering audiences the opportunity to dance, connect and shake off their grief on the dance floor.

Leah Sian Davies and Georgina Jones are the founders of The Grief Disco and the hosts of the event.

“We have both experience significant loss in our lives and have found healing in coming together to dance, find joy and connect with ourselves and others on the dance floor. We are building a community to create a positive and uplifting experience for anyone who is grieving and who would love to feel this connection with others who relate.”

They believe that grief impacts us all and can be a lonely and isolating time. They also believe in the medicine of music and dance and welcoming grief into a new space.

Gwanwyn is a month-long national festival held across Wales in May each year, showcasing creativity in older age. Gwanwyn Festival offer opportunities for older people to become involved in arts and creative activities, either as practitioners, organisers or audience members. Gwanwyn Festival also helps older people to recognise the benefits that being creative can bring to their health and wellbeing.
