Evenlode Primary School Hosts Art Exhibition to Raise Money for New Books

Evenlode Primary School, a council-funded community school in Penarth, hosted its first whole-school Art Exhibition on Friday, showcasing artwork by all 493 pupils aged 3 to 12 years old, from across both its Primary and Nursery school locations.

The fundraiser saw pupils create artwork inspired by school topics and themes for display and was organized by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Through the sale of exhibition tickets, refreshments and raffle tickets, the event generated a significant contribution towards the planned purchase of over 1,000 much needed new books for the school.

The school and its PTA worked with local businesses including Griffin Books, ener-chi, Umpa Lumpa Sweet Shop, Melody’s Hair Salon, Brød, Figure of Eight Events, Amore Hair Salon, Willmore’s 1938, Brewers Decorator Centres, and IKEA Cardiff to create the event.

Headteacher, Ruth Foster said: “Art can be transformative in building self-confidence and esteem in young people. Together with our PTA, we wanted to create a fundraiser that would encourage creative expression amongst all our pupils and provide them with a moment of real pride, seeing their work displayed. It’s fantastic to have had such support from our parents and wider local community to make this event such a success.”
