mooch-y Craft Clubs

Every Tuesday up to Christmas

Get creative this Christmas with mooch-y‘s festive craft clubs, taking place every Tuesday in the run-up to the big day. From lino printing Christmas cards and wrapping paper to making disco baubles and polymer clay decorations, there’s plenty of opportunity to get hands-on. mooch-y will also be hosting a charity wreath-making workshop on 13 December, raising funds for the Glioblastoma Foundation and Marie Curie.

Canna Music Festival

2027, dates and times to be announced

Born from a series of neighbourhood garden concerts during lockdown, Canna Music Festival has grown into a celebration of live music, family and community. Founded by professional musicians Róisín and Tom Verity Walters with a passion for bringing people together, the festival made its debut in 2026, building on the success of intimate concerts at Kings Road Yard. With performances featuring musicians from across the UK and Europe, they champion brilliant live music in a relaxed, welcoming and unfussy setting. Plans are already taking shape for Canna Music Festival 2027. You don’t need to know anything about classical music to enjoy it. Bring your family, a friend, or simply yourself — everyone is welcome.

Silence In The Dream Of A Language That Cannot Hold Us

3 October 2026 – 3 January, Chapter Arts Centre

In her latest exhibition for Chapter Arts Centre, interdisciplinary artist Bindi Vora questions the role images as artefacts of family archives play in the production and narration of public history. Centering around a press photograph of Ugandan army officers directing a South Asian woman onto a bus, the exhibition recalls the displacement of roughly 90,000 South Asians from Uganda in 1971 — a piece of Bindi’s own family history.

Pontcanna Peaks

28 November, launch party, The Pontcanna Inn

The mountains are coming to Cardiff this winter as The Pontcanna Inn transforms its beer garden into Pontcanna Peaks, a fully heated après-ski experience. Expect DJs, ice sculptures, cocktails, live entertainment and plenty of delicious food, all wrapped up in a wonderfully festive atmosphere. Whether it’s Christmas drinks with friends, the office party of a big festive get-together, round up your crew and head for the Peaks. The festivities kick off with the official launch part on 28 November.

Christmas Concerts and Winter Fair

November – December 2026, Llandaff Cathedral

Llandaff Cathedral has a wonderfully varied programme of events to enjoy this winter. Its candlelit concerts feature music from Harry Potter, Hans Zimmer and Tim Burton, alongside festive favourites inspired by Vivaldi, Michael Bublé and The Nutcracker. For something a little more relaxed, free hour-long coffee concerts take place at 11am on selected dates, bringing together tea, cake, live music and a warm welcome. The popular Winter Fair also returns on 25 November, with mulled wine, crafts, stalls and live entertainment to help everyone get into the Christmas spirit.

Cardiff Mini Film Festival

16 – 17 January 2027, Masonic Hall Cardiff

Cardiff Mini Film Festival returns this January, bringing a wonderfully eclectic celebration of independent filmmaking. For almost fifteen years, the festival has championed emerging filmmakers working with modest budgets, offering a platform for fresh voices and imaginative storytelling. You can expect to clink glasses with a fantastic community of film-lovers as you watch a curated selection of around 100 short films by global filmmakers, ranging from documentary to horror.

Kings Road Yard Christmas Market

14 November – 20 December, weekends only, Kings Road Yard

A much-loved fixture of Pontcanna’s creative community, Kings Road Yard welcomes back its seasonal Christmas Market this November. Running every weekend until 20 December, the market promises a festive opportunity to explore one of the neighbourhood’s most distinctive independent spaces. Despite a challenging year for owners Keith and Caroline Munro, the yard continues to be thriving creative hub, just as it has been for the past twenty years. What better reason to pop along, soak up the atmosphere and support a cherished local institution this Christmas?
